Malanga Fritters

Fritura de Malanga

Serves 6


  • 1 lb malanga
  • 1 tsp. cilantro or parsley
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 raw egg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 3 cups of oil for frying


Grate the malanga. Add the rest of ingredients, except oil, and mix well. Add oil to a deep pot fryer or frying pan. Heat oil to 365 F (185 C). Drop in spoonfuls of mix, one a a time. Turn and fry, until golden brown, for 7 to 10 minutes. Drain and serve hot.
