Crush cornflakes with a rolling pin before measuring. Preheat oven to 375°F. Sift flour with baking powder, bicarbonate and salt. Beat butter with sugar until creamy. Add dry ingredients and combine well.
Add the walnuts, dates and cherries. Roll teaspoonfuls of the mixture in cornflakes and place a cherry in the center of each. Place on greased baking sheets and bake for 10 or 12 minutes.
