Wash beans and soak overnight together with a green pepper. Cook
beans until tender in the same water. Strain and save three cups of
their broth. Dice pork meat and fry until fat runs out. If necessary, add
oil to make 4 tbs. fat and fry minced onion, garlic and green pepper.
Add the beans, the three cups of broth, bay leaf, salt and oregano.
When liquid boils add washed rice, which has been lightly fried with
half the bacon or salt pork. Cover and cook over medium heat until rice
is tender. Just before serving add the remaining bacon and its fat.
