Delicious Cuban ņame. Ideal for Ajiaco and other soups. A white fleshed root, having a dark colored skin, which is drier and not as sweet regular yam. They have a mild delicate flavor and a fluffy texture when cooked. Ņame can be prepared in the same manner as potatoes. Peeled ņames should be immediately placed into cold water in order to prevent discoloration. When boiling, they must be completely covered with water to prevent blotches from forming. Ņames are available throughout the year. They should be stored at room temperature.
