The taste and texture is very good but the carbs are still quite high (8g) based on the stated serving size of only 1/2 ounce. Regular Goya guava has 24g of carbs per 1 ounce, a more typical serving, or in other words 12g per 1/2 ounce. The sugar free version therefore would have 16g of carbs per a more normal 1 oz serving. That is still high carb. While the package promotes that it is sweetened with Splenda, it contains largely Maltitol, a sugar alcohol that can cause stomach distress.

The bars are smaller and thinner than Goya's regular sugared guava paste, but the intense sweetness and slightly gritty texture are identical. Made with Splenda, it has no off-flavors, no chemical aftertaste, no digestive issues, and can even be baked in recipes. With a mere 20 calories per 14-gram serving (only 280 calories for the WHOLE BAR!), it's pure guilt-free indulgence.
